Chief Curl Tail Grub Soft Plastic Lure

Target flathead, bream, mulloway and Australian bass with the Flicking The Plastics Chief Curl Tail Grub. Its flexible curl tail creates movement on a slow retrieve, making it a versatile soft plastic for estuaries, rivers and impoundments.

Slow roll it along shallow edges or hop it around drains, drop-offs and structure.

Sizes and pack quantities

  • 80mm — 6 lures per pack: a smaller profile for lighter presentations.
  • 100mm — 4 lures per pack: a larger profile when you want more presence.

Why choose the Chief?

  • Flexible curl tail: adds movement to slow retrieves and pauses between lifts.
  • Rolling body action: creates a moving presentation as you wind.
  • Versatile retrieve: fish with a steady wind or gentle hops along the bottom.

Target species

  • Estuaries and inshore waters: flathead, bream, snapper, trevally and mulloway (jewfish).
  • Freshwater and tidal rivers: Australian bass, estuary perch, golden perch and redfin.

Match your presentation to local prey, fishing conditions and the species present.

How to fish it

Rig straight on a suitable jig head, matching the hook size to the lure and the weight to your depth and current. Keep the curl tail clear of the hook so it can move freely.

  • Flats and shallow edges: retrieve slowly with a steady wind.
  • Drains and drop-offs: lift gently, let the lure sink, then pause before repeating.
  • Around structure: work controlled casts along edges, using enough weight to stay in contact with the lure.

Why FTP Fishing

We’re not a big corporation — we actually fish what we sell. Every lure is designed with real-world use in mind, so you can fish with confidence knowing it’s been tested where it matters.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

After saltwater use, gently rinse lures, hooks and jig heads with fresh water and allow them to dry thoroughly before storing.

Store tackle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and hot car interiors. Keep soft plastics lying straight in their original packaging, with different colours and plastic types separated to help prevent colour transfer or material reactions.

Before each session, check lures, hooks, split rings and other fittings for damage, wear or corrosion. Replace damaged components before use.

SHIPPING & RETURNS

We strive to process and ship all orders in a timely manner, working diligently to ensure that your items are on their way to you as soon as possible. Need to return something? Just let us know.
